The Marketing Manager proposes and implements the marketing strategy to build awareness about the hotel and promote customer loyalty. Executing marketing activities for the property as directed by the Director of Sales (DOS), General Manager (GM). Works with DOS and strategic partners to create and execute marketing/advertising strategies, make updates to the property’s web-site, coordinate creation of sales and on-property collateral, create and execute robust social media campaign, and coordinate initiatives for on-property and local programming.


Essential Functions:

  • Be a brand ambassador for the I Hotel and Conference Center
  • Create and distribute targeted e-mail campaigns to drive sales for the I Hotel and Conference Center, and Houlihan’s
  • Maintain website content and update property’s web-site, working with outside vendors if necessary
  • Optimize data guest data capture across the facility to provide actionable marketing data 
  • Manage and execute online advertising strategy with strategic partners like TravelClick
  • Create on-property promotions and programming and work with sales team on backend development and reporting as needed
  • Accurately track department expenditures and adhere to budgeted and forecasted expenses
  • Support social media function with stories and ideas to generate buzz online
  • Coordinate with Social Media Associate to plan social media content on channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. as defined in media schedule
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute marketing plans with defined goals in conjunction with the DOS
  • Oversee the hotel and restaurant advertising, public relations, and promotional activities with DOS and GM
  • Communicate with advertisers and media channels as needed for campaigns and PR needs
  • Prepare ad hoc and periodic marketing activity reports
  • Direct and oversee all hotel digital and print publications advertisements to increase revenue by building greater awareness of the Hotel through media relations, publicity efforts, promotions and social media strategies
  • Establish strong relationships with media, potential promotional partners, and current partners - Visit Champaign County, preferred partner hotels, and other substantial business partners
  • Media database development and industry monitoring - Build upon list of media contacts by focusing on key feeder locations and niche markets
  • Monitors consumer and trade news to identify trends that the hotel can capitalize on
  • Maximizes promotional partnerships
  • Coordinate responses to leads delivered by Visit Champaign County, Cvent, Wedding Wire, the Knot and other business partners
  • Reaches out to companies identified as potential partners, as well as media outlets
  • Review future booking levels to plan dates for promotions to increase occupancy rates 


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in public relations, marketing, advertising
  • Hotel marketing experience preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor Degree or Equivalent (Communication/Marketing/Advertising preferred)
  • Graphic Design experience required (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc)
  • Outgoing and self-motivated individual with pleasant personality
  • Excellent computer skills, including desktop publishing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
