Social Media Intern

The Social Media Intern will help create content, manage the social media calendar, assist with reporting and analytics, and support the marketing team in everyday initiatives relating to the I Hotel social channels. The ideal candidate will have a creative eye, exceptional writing skills, and a positive attitude in addition to being dependable and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the posting for all accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)

  • Create unique content to increase awareness of the hotel, restaurant, and conference center

  • Maintain social media content calendar

  • Engage with followers by responding to comments & actively engaging with community posts

  • Write captions for all posts

  • Edit content for social media channels

  • Support the marketing team with monthly social media reporting needs

  • Research best practices and industry insights to stay on top of trends

  • Suggest and implement tactics to drive growth on all social media platforms, including experimenting with new platforms

  • Additional responsibilities as required


  • Junior or Senior standing in an accredited university, preferably with a major in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or Journalism

  • Basic knowledge of social media marketing

  • Excellent writing skills (experience in copywriting would be a plus)

  • Strong organization and project management abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Basic photo and video editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite would be a plus)

  • Ability to work 5-15 hours per week and flexible evening/weekend availability for content creation (i.e. sporting events, conference center events, music performances, etc.)

The I Hotel and Illinois Conference Center and Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar are located south of the State Farm Center at 1900 S. First Street in Champaign, Illinois.
