Here at the I Hotel and Conference Center, we recognize our responsibility to reduce the consumption of water, waste and energy throughout our hotel. Many of our business practices and service offerings are concentrating on the continued integration of environmental sustainability throughout our business.

The Green Roof 

As a further step to conserve natural resources and encourage sustainability throughout the University of Illinois south campus, a 2,860 square-foot green roof system was developed for the conference center roof, adjoining the I Hotel. This eco-friendly system created additional green space and complements the natural landscaping that has already been implemented in the Research Park. While limiting storm water discharge by over 50%, the green roof system also filters and detoxifies runoff, reducing energy usage by 25% through decreased roof temperatures and removing particulates traveling to the Embarras River. 

Hybrid Vehicles and Tesla Charging Stations 

Guest at I Hotel and Conference Center, have access to a Tesla High Power Charging station and an electric vehicle (J1772) charging station located on property available for use by hotel and restaurant patrons. The Tesla charging station will provide a convenient and fast charging solution for Tesla Model S owners traveling through east central Illinois.

Bicycle 

Champaign-Urbana has been ranked as a bronze-level bicycle-friendly community by The League of American Bicyclists. We offer two complimentary bicycles for hotel guest use, a local bike map, a water bottle and safety helmets. Please contact our concierge services for more information on how to check out our bikes.
